Online Poker Tells

Before we can discuss what poker tells you should be looking for when you play online poker you first need to learn what a poker tell is. A poker tell is when an opponent does something that typically shows whether they are strong or weak in the hand. When you’re playing online poker it can be difficult to pick up on the tells from other players because you can’t actually see anyone.

We’re going to look at some of the common Ultimate Bet Poker tells you will typically find beginner players making. Of course players could be doing the exact opposite of what these tells suggest so they aren’t going to guarantee anything, but it could help you find out where you stand in a pot.

* One of the easiest ways to get a tell on your opponent in a hand is if they use the auto buttons that most online poker rooms have. Typically you can auto bet, auto call and auto fold your hand so if you see an opponent using these buttons you can pick up on the strength of their hand. If they auto check then they typically have nothing, but if they auto bet then they typically have a strong hand because they aren’t even worried about what the other players are going to do.

* If you notice a player on your table is timed out a lot and they haven’t been losing their connection to the poker room then this typically means they are doing something else while playing. When you find players doing this you can easily steal pots off of them because you can be sure they won’t be making any bluffs in any pots. If they bet then they typically hit some piece of the board and if they don’t then they have nothing. These players are easy to read because they don’t do anything except bet their big hands and fold when they have nothing.

* When a poker player takes a long time to check then they typically have nothing or they have a draw. The reason they pause is because they want a free card and they want it to look like they were going to bet. Don’t be fooled by this and find out where you stand in the pot by throwing out a bet to see if the opponents calls you or not.

* When a player pauses and then comes out firing at the pot they typically have a strong hand and they just want you to think they are bluffing at the pot. Only call in this situation if you have a real hand or a real good draw.

* When a player begins talking a lot at the table they are typically on tilt and you should be able to tell by the way they are talking. If they start betting like crazy then you need to make sure you aren’t scared to call them down to see what they have when you have a hand. A player on tilt is a lot easier to beat then a player who is playing his A game.
